Diaspora

Lean dark face of the Kenyan dust,

Brown-locked king of the Caribbean Sea,

Beige-skinned warrior on a New York City bus,

Copper-toned executive down in New Orleans,

Mahogany-skinned father on a Bahian street,

Milky way youth dancing to a punta beat,

The diasporic beauty of Africa’s sons,

appreciate their subjectivity,

but out of many

still

one.
